Hospitality

Are you creative? Do you love good food and working with people? If you have these qualities and work well under pressure, have good communication skills and a strong work ethic, then hospitality could be the perfect fit for you! Cutting edge culinary arts and innovative design unite at the Food Design Institute based at our Dunedin campus. A world leader in Food Design Education, the Institute produces graduates who are food savvy, ambitious and innovative.

We also offer cookery programmes at our Central Otago campus, where you can immerse yourself in our ‘paddock to plate’ approach. We focus on using regional produce to build a connection between the source of our food and the dinner table.

Want your skills formally recognised?

Have you worked in the hospitality industry for at least ten years and want formal recognition of your skills and knowledge?

We offer a one year, distance programme with workshops in Dunedin – ideal for those with experience of the hospitality industry. Using our Assessment of Prior Learning (APL) process, we measure your existing knowledge against the Bachelor of Culinary Arts and give you academic credit towards this degree. This process is especially valuable for those who are already employed, as you don’t have to leave your job to achieve the qualification.
