Keen to support Dunedin’s Wildlife Hospital?

On Saturday 15 September, the Wildlife Hospital Students’ Association (WHSA) will be out and about in Dunedin, raising funds for the busy facility.

Since opening in January and operating out of Otago Polytechnic’s School of Veterinary Nursing, the Wildlife Hospital has treated hundreds of injured birds, including rare takahe, various kiwi and numerous penguins.

“The Wildlife Hospital has been hugely successful this year,” says Fiona Thorp, of the WHSA.

“As a study body, we are passionate about helping to sustain the hospital’s vital work.”

Fiona says more than 80 volunteers will be spread across 17 locations in Dunedin on 15 September, providing stickers and fliers about the Wildlife Hospital and, of course, information about how people can donate.

“We have some penguin and kiwi costumes which will be around the Otago Farmers Market and George St areas. We will also be offering face-painting at the market from 9am-12pm,” Fiona says.
