If you’re keen on cycling, hands-on work and fixing things, then bicycle mechanics could be the perfect career for you.

You’ll be working towards the New Zealand Certificate in Bicycle Servicing (Level 3).

What will I do?

  • Learn the terminology, purpose and function of all bicycle components
  • Find out how a bicycle workshop operates
  • Identify and use tools and consumables found in a bicycle workshop
  • Install, service and adjust bicycle frames, tyres, hubs, brakes, steering and accessories
  • Install, service and adjust drive trains and suspensions.

What could I do next?

  • Study a  New Zealand Certificate in Bicycle Mechanics (Level 4) at Otago Polytechnic
  • Get a job as a Bicycle Technician
  • Work in the bicycle industry retail sector.
