This programme allows international students to improve their English language skills while learning about the horticulture and/or viticulture industry. You will get hands-on experience working in the industry as you harvest cherries in the summer and grapes in the autumn.

Nursery Production online programme (Level 3)

Further develop the fundamental skills and knowledge required of horticulturists in the nursery sector while you work. This programme is for domestic students only and you must be working within the nursery industry. It provides the perfect opportunity for you to upksill via online learning whilst using your workplace as a setting to practice your developing skills. Successful graduates will receive the New Zealand Certificate in Horticulture (Level 3) (Nursery Production).

Landscape Construction and Amenity Horticulture programme (Level 3)

With your enjoyment of working outdoors, your planning and organisational skills and your eye for detail, why not get paid for doing what your love? This programme will give you the work-ready skills you need to enter the horticulture industry, focusing on the amenity and landscaping sectors. Field trips and work experience are integral to this programme. Graduates will achieve both the New Zealand Certificate in Horticulture (Level 3) (Amenity) and the New Zealand Certificate in Horticulture (Level 3) (Landscape Construction).

High country farming programme (Level 3)

Farming careers are fun and rewarding and there is strong demand nationally for passionate people who want to work with livestock in the farming industry. This Central Otago-based qualification is the only farming training programme in New Zealand with a high country flavour. Graduates of this programme will receive both the New Zealand Certificate in Agriculture (Farming Systems) (Level 3) and New Zealand Certificate in Agriculture (Vehicles, Machinery and Infrastructure) (Level 3).

Arboriculture programme (Level 3 and 4)

Work outdoors and enjoy a hands-on, physical job. Arborists are in demand for their ability to care for, and maintain, trees. This industry-standard qualification provides learners with the knowledge and skills to carry out tree maintenance and management activities at heights including tree removal. Graduates of this programme will receive both the New Zealand Certificate in Horticulture (Level 3) (Arboriculture) and New Zealand Certificate in Horticulture Services (Level 4) (Arboriculture).

Sports Turf programme (Level 4)

Benefit from our close proximity to world-class sporting venues as well as the outdoor training area that has been established specifically to cater for this qualification. Upon successful completion, you will graduate with a New Zealand Certificate in Horticulture Services (Level 4) (Sports Turf). From 2019, we will also be offering the New Zealand Certificate in Horticulture Services (Level 5) (Sports Turf)*.

Fruit Production online programme (Level 4)

Fruit Production programme (Level 5)*

Replacing our Diploma in Horticulture (Level 5) and Diploma in Viticulture (Level 5) from 2019, this programme will enable you to progress your career in the national or international horticultural communities by gaining the knowledge and skills to become a competent leader in the stonefruit, pipfruit, berry or wine grape production industries. Upon successful completion of this programme, you will graduate with the New Zealand Diploma in Horticulture Production (Level 5) (Fruit Production)*.
