Otago Polytechnic’s learners have spent much of the year creating, achieving and innovating. Our end-of-year Student Showcase celebrates their successes and shares them with the community.

This week, it is the turn of our Business and Tourism students to take a bow.

Find out about a variety of student projects undertaken in partnership with local employers, resulting in inventive solutions and successful outcomes.

This year, 60 Applied Management students have completed projects in Dunedin, Twizel, Christchurch, Alexandra, Invercargill, as well as Atherton (Queensland) and Melbourne.

Students have had some amazing experiences and have gained life skills from both the work placements and the research they have conducted. The acknowledgement and recognition from their host organisations is an important aspect of their learning journey.

Many of the host organisations have endorsed the student projects by implementing recommendations. Some have also offered full-time employment.

The wide-ranging projects include: research into boosting Otago tertiary students’ (aged 18-24) participation in sporting events; research into specialized tourism tour packages for the senior and disabled markets; and research into widening the scope of the Southern District Health Board’s Southern Excellence Awards.

Otago Polytechnic’s Business and Tourism Student Showcase is being held at The Hub, Forth Street, Dunedin, from Monday 12 November to Wednesday 14 November.
